-
An approach to couples therapy that combines a fusion of attachment theory, developmental neuroscience, and arousal regulation.
This approach aims to aims to help couples notice their reactions as they occur and learn how to better address one another's attachment needs.
For Individuals
We utilise a variety of evidence-based therapies to support clients depending on their individual experiences and their goals.
-
Client centered therapy, or person centered therapy, is a non-directive approach to talk therapy. It requires the client to actively take the reins during each therapy session, while the therapist acts mainly as a guide or a source of support for the client. This can be quite helpful when the client feels quite confused by their emotions or experience and needs to sort through this before deciding on any further action.
-
Schema Therapy is designed to explore unmet needs and current patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. It encourages clients to recognise their defence mechanisms and to gradually replace maladaptive ones, as well as becoming a empathetic and encouraging partner to themselves.
-
EMDR is a trauma therapy that helps people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that may result from highly distressing experiences.
-
Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) is a type of talking therapy. It's based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), but it's specially adapted for people who feel emotions very intensely.
Andrew utilises elements of DBT and DBT skills in an individual therapy setting to support clients with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) or those who struggle with interpersonal conflicts and difficult or intense emotions.
-
Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is an action-oriented approach to psychotherapy that stems from traditional behavior therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. Clients learn to stop avoiding, denying, and struggling with their inner emotions and, instead, accept that these deeper feelings are appropriate responses to certain situations that should not prevent them from moving forward in their lives.
-
CBT places an emphasis on helping individuals understand their thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and how these influence one another. Through exercises in the session as well as at home, clients can learn to change their own thinking, emotions, and behaviour.
-
Motivational interviewing evolved from the person-centered approach to therapy, as a method to help people commit to the process of change.
The goal of motivational interviewing is to help people resolve ambivalent feelings and insecurities to find the internal motivation they need to change their behaviour.
